Ductless mini-splits are popular in our area for good reason: they’re efficient, they heat and cool, and they’re great for additions, cabins, and rooms that never quite got comfortable. But like any system, they need attention to keep running their best.
Watch for these signs
- Weak or warm airflow — often a dirty filter or coil, or a refrigerant issue
- Water dripping from the indoor unit — usually a clogged condensate line
- Odors when it runs — commonly mold or buildup on the coil
- Longer run times or higher bills — the system working harder than it should
- Unusual noises — rattles, buzzing, or grinding worth investigating early
- Ice on the outdoor unit in cooling mode
Simple upkeep goes a long way. Cleaning the washable filters every few weeks and keeping the outdoor unit clear prevents many of these problems. For anything involving refrigerant or electrical components, that’s where we come in — those need a certified technician.
